kde-redhat packages on x86_64
The Kde-Redhat project provides the latest / greatest KDE packages for all Redhat Linux platforms ( including Fedora Core 2, 3, 4 and Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4, which work well on CentOS ) but they do so only for the i386 Arch.
I've started playing with the aim of providing them some x86_64 ( AMD64, Opteron EM64T etc ) building / porting capability. The first part for that, of-course, is to go through the entire tree they currently host and rebuild for a 'sane' platform. I picked EL4/x86_64, hosted on CentOS. No awards for Guessing why!!
Packages, as they churn through my presently-quite-crude-setup are going to start showing up at http://rpm.karan.org/el4/ ( hosted by Pasi in Finland, much thanks! ). The repository layout is pretty much my 'standard' format, RPMS, Debug pkgs, logs and SRPMS from the build process are going to be there. I hope to support FC3 / FC4 / EL4 ( and if more than 5 people ask for it - EL3 ) . Look through the RPM tree and build logs and let me know what I am breaking and not doing right. I've been a KDE user on and off ( and must admit that its GNOME that I run on my laptop ), and would like to see the kde-redhat project's great efforts ( specifically, Rex Dieter's work ) be made available to the x86_64 users out there.
Now would be a good time to point out that 'its a start' = things are not done yet. I will post again, once the EL4 repository is complete and installable.
Bug reports, issues, complains and maybe even some form of 'hey it works' are appreciated - get in touch via email, details on the contact page.
