Sleep cycle and Spam
So the spammers know when I am likely to be reading email. Now how in the world did they work that out ? or is this just a fluke of somesorts...
Here is what's going on - During my waking hours, 8am to 2am, I get between 4500 - 5200 spam + virus hosting emails. About 250+/hr. During the sleeping hours of 2:00am to 8:00am this number drops to between 120 - 150. Total. For an average hourly rate of 20 - 25.
I'm now importing my maillog's in a db of sorts, will run some reports over the next few days and see exactly what is going on. Considering most of the spam I am getting is being done out of Zombie'd machines out of the US and China ( at the moment ), the rational thing would be to follow the day - night cycle there. But aparently things dont seem to work that way.
