webcams anyone
Just looking for recommendations for webcams that justwork with linux ( specially centos-5 ). So if you are using a webcam at the moment, do drop me a line and recommend something.
Also, I really dont need a network aware camera, dont have that much money to spend at the moment. And there already is a machine located about 2 feet away from where the webcam is going to be located at.

I know a few good Microsoft ones - very compact - not sure if they will work on Linux though. Feel free to try them out next whenever you are over. :)

Logitech USB Webcams works well on all Linux distributions. The driver (qca-usb, if I remember well) compiles very easy. There's a RPM for Fedora in drpixel repos.

i recently tried the ms nx-6000 and a creative life! cam optia. both are uvc compliant devices and work with the linuxuvc driver compiled directly from svn (havent tried with centos but with fedora). However although the ms cam works with luvciew testprogram, i does'nt work with wengo, ekiga or skype. in contrast) the creative cam works like a charm.
