Lirc capable remote

Surely any of the programmable universal remotes are good candidates?

Check MythTV pages. Microsoft remotes are quite popular over there.

I've used an older Microsoft MCE remote (can be found for around $30 at sites like NewEgg.com) as well as a Logitech Harmony programmed to act like the Microsoft MCE app.

To use the Logitech however, you'll need Windows or Mac OS X to configure it. I really like the heft and feeling of the MCE remote and it works perfectly with the lirc-mce configs. If it was more universal of a remote, I would still use it, however, the Logitech allows me to turn on the TV and Amplifier, and change all the inputs correctly based on what I want to do (Mythtv, music, straight cable to the TV, etc.)

If they're supported, they work. I bought the StreamZap because it was supported out-of-the-box by MiniMyth, the distro I use on my front-end.

I'm also interested.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I have ordered a Logitech and a SpeedLink remote. Once they get here, I'll do a write up with details on how I got along.

In my freevo, I use a ATI RemoteWonder II and work great!

You must have seen the remote at home - I think that is. Next bank weekend roll up with your laptop and get cracking. :)
