I've thought for a long time that Dell's choice to use Intel and only Intel has been quite strange. Most businesses decide to do whatever will make them the most money, regardless of any "alliances" or "friendships" they may have.

I believe they're the last vendor of their breed to not have diversified. It's not like adding AMD-based servers or desktops will hurt business; they'd only be opening up more doors to people who want AMD-based machines, who hate Intel, or depending on the chips used, have much sweeter price points.

The link you posted is much better showing the wheels have began turning towards a "holy crap!" situation :)

I guess this link makes it more of a its-coming-any-minute-now situation.

I, for one, really welcome this move. AMD has a solid setup out there, much better than what Intel has been able to put out.

they're only selling processors. seems odd to me, but it will be a huge win when they begin selling SYSTEMS.

right now this isn't a "holy crap!" this is more like a "that's amusing" - when they start selling AMD systems, then i will be surprised.
